The raid meta suddenly changed with a surprise in the second phase of WoW Pandaria Classic. Melee DPS specs received some tweaks, and that led to a shift in their viability in WoW raids.
Although every spec in the game can contribute enough to successfully clear the current raids, some specializations perform way better in terms of utility, damage throughput, and survivability. Players can also buy Pandaria gold to get their characters all ready to join the raids easily.
S Tier

Arms Warrior
Arms Warrior has really good personal damage, particularly in single target and cleave encounters. Their strongest advantage, however, lies in their exceptional utility. On top of that, the spec boasts impressive survivability and remarkably strong single target output, making it hard to justify a raid without one, even if its utility weren’t top tier. Since the class scales really well with gear, spending your Pandaria gold will be really beneficial for you.
Unholy Death Knight
Unlike most of the specializations, UNH Death Knight’s damage isn’t heavily dependent on gear. While better equipment naturally boosts performance, even basic raid-level gear is usually sufficient to deal solid damage.
Their single target output is strong, but they truly shine in AoE and cleave situations. That said, their utility is fairly limited and tends to lose value with each additional Death Knight in the group.
Subtlety Rogue
Rogues do not bring much raid utility in this current WoW expansion. However, Rogue survivability is excellent at the moment. Especially, Subtlety Rogues have a well-balanced damage profile now. They have strong, consistent single target and cleave damage, while their AoE burst ranks among the highest in the game. Like the other Rogue specs, Assassination brings the standard class utilities to the raid. Its damage output is highly competitive, with single target performance slightly behind Subtlety. However, its simple and accessible rotation makes the spec especially appealing for newer players looking for strong results without excessive complexity.
Enhancement Shaman
Enhancement Shamans deal a little less damage than most specs in this tier, but they make up for it with strong offensive utility. Their Stormlash Totem provides valuable raid wide damage boosts, making them a solid addition to any group, especially when there isn’t another Shaman present.
Frost Death Knight
Just like its other spec, Frost Dk doesn’t rely heavily on gear to perform well. It’s strong across all encounter types, with single target damage being its main strength. In terms of utility, there isn’t much beyond Anti Magic Zone and Gorefiend’s Grasp, both of which lose effectiveness when multiple Death Knights are present in the raid group.
Windwalker Monk
Windwalker Monks have by far the best cleave damage in the game. Their single-target throughput also should not be underestimated. The spec mainly struggles with big AoE fights, and the lack of any valuable utility for the raid is the only factor that separates it from the S tier.
Feral Druid
With the right group composition and buffs, Feral Druids can deal strong damage in almost any scenario. Their utility is quite similar to that of Balance Druids, though their survivability can be a concern. To stay competitive with other classes, they generally require solid gear upgrades, making smart use of your Pandaria gold important.
B Tier
This tier has classes that can perform well but rely on near perfect rotations or specific conditions to shine. Their overall damage potential is noticeably lower than the higher tiers, yet they are still fully capable of completing all raid content without major issues.
Survival Hunter
The biggest strength of Survival Hunter is their ability to bring almost any type of buff through their pets. It can also use “Dust Cloud,” which is a great source of armor shred on bosses. It can also do its full damage rotation while moving, making it really good on certain mechanics.
The gear requirements for Survival Hunter are also low, which means it can perform near its best with very little investment. The problem with the spec is that, unlike the other classes, its damage is mediocre at most, and it does not scale as much as the rest of the roaster.
Combat Rogue
Combat Rogue damage is significantly lower than the rest of the Rogue specializations. Even with a lot of WoW gold Pandaria invested into it, the damage will not be that superior. While it’s meant to excel in cleave encounters, the damage still falls short compared to other options.
Fury Warrior

Retribution Paladin
Retribution Paladin is similar to the Warrior’s specs, in terms of its unmatched utility. However, instead of bringing damage utility, it has a lot of defensive tools to help the raid. That said, the damage profile is not great, since it’s reality low in cleave fights. The single-target is great but not in prolonged fights, since the specialization itself is more of a burst damage.
